F.A.Q.

Do I get to know the results?
The results from the project will be published on this website. However, individual results will not be made available, and all the data will be anonymised.

Will my child’s data be confidential?
Yes, the audio-recordings of the linguistic tasks will be transcribed and coded by the research assistants for the purpose of conducting linguistic analyses. The results of the cognitive tasks will be written down on a score sheet. Only the four researchers linked to this particular project will have access to the audio-recordings and the score sheets. Any identifying information will be removed when the data is transcribed and used in presentations and publications. Your child will be assigned a numerical ID and no names or other identifying information will ever be used in the analysis or the presentation of the results.

What will happen to the data?
The audio recordings and the score sheet results will be stored on password-protected computers and, unless otherwise indicated by you, they will be kept in an anonymous form for future studies for a period of 10 years.

Does my child have to take part if the school participates?
No, participation is entirely on a voluntary basis. If you do decide you would like your child to take part you will be given an information sheet to keep and you will be asked to sign the informed consent form. However, even if you give your consent, you and your child are still free to withdraw at any time without giving a reason and without detriment to yourself. If you wish to withdraw at any stage you may request for your child’s data not to be included in the project’s results.
